A man is fighting for life in hospital after colliding with a tree on Brand Highway in the Shire of Gingin

A man in his 50’s is fighting for his life in hospital after crashing his car into a tree along a major highway on Saturday morning.

The man was driving along Brand Highway near Boonanarring Road just before 9am when his car veered off the road and collided with a tree.

Police, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, St John WA and the RAC rescue helicopter attended the scene.

The man was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A small part of Brand Highway was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.
