Two people have been charged after a clandestine drug laboratory and $5.6 million worth of ice and MDMA was discovered in Sydney.

NSW Police searching a unit at Rhodes in Sydney's west on Friday found equipment and chemicals used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs in the garage.

Investigators seized 40 kilograms of methylamphetamine (ice) and 400g of MDMA, with an estimated street value of more than $5.62 million.

Officers, who also searched a bank vault in the CBD, also seized $750,000 cash, 65kg of silver bullion, 900g of gold and 23 boxes of ammunition.

A 47-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested during the operation at Rhodes and charged with multiple drug offences.
