Three people injured in Tonkin Highway car chase
Three people have been seriously injured after a car chase through Perth’s south-eastern suburbs.
Police say they tried to stop the driver of a Holden Commodore travelling on Church Avenue in Armadale at about 9.45pm Tuesday night — but they sped away.
The driver then allegedly sped through several Armadale streets before turning onto Tonkin Highway in Forrestdale on the wrong side of the road.
A few minutes later, the Commodore — still travelling on the wrong side of the road — collided with a white Holden Captiva station wagon.
The Commodore driver then lost control and collided with a green Hyundai hatchback 150 metres down the road at the intersection of Tonkin Highway and Champion Drive in Champion Lakes.
The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 30s was seriously injured and taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.
The 40-year-old female driver of the Captiva received minor injuries and was taken to Armadale Hospital.
The 24-year-old Armadale man driving the Commodore was arrested a short distance from the crash site and taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.
He is facing a number of charges including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, no authority to drive, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and stealing, and will face a bedside hearing at a later date.
