Man charged over Melbourne motel murder

A man has been charged with murder after the death of another man at a Melbourne motel.

Emergency services were called to an altercation between two men at the Mahoneys Road motel at 4.30pm on Monday.

A 44-year-old Thomastown man was treated by paramedics for lower body injuries but died at the scene.

A 44-year-old Reservoir man was arrested by police and taken to hospital with head injuries.

He was interviewed on Tuesday and charged with one count of murder.

He is expected to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday night.

Detectives believe both parties were known to each other.
