Man, 76, fighting for life after thief steals ute and caravan, hitting him, at Halls Creek service station

A 76-year-old man is fighting for life after a thief stole his car and caravan while he was inspecting the vehicle at a Halls Creek service station. Police say the victim had parked his Isuzu D-Max utility — bearing South Australian registration plates — at a fuel station on Great Northern Highway about 10.45am on Saturday before the incident occurred. He was inspecting the caravan when police say an unknown person, or persons, entered the ute and drove off, striking the victim. The 76-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to the Royal Darwin Hospital for medical treatment. Police are now calling for witnesses and anyone else with information to come forward.
