A 35-year-old man who allegedly led police on a lengthy chase through Perth’s northern suburbs last night will appear in court today.

Officers say they attempted to stop a Kia Sorrento on Morley Drive about 10:43pm, after they saw it drive through a red traffic light near Flinders Street in Yokine.

The driver allegedly failed to stop for police and continued to speed through multiple suburbs including North Perth, Leederville, Mount Hawthorn, Malaga, Ballajura, Koondoola, Girrawheen and Westminster.

A tyre deflation device eventually stopped the car in its tracks on Wanneroo Road in Nollamara.

The driver tried to flee the scene but was arrested shortly after.

The Cooloongup man has been charged with a number of offences including reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, no authority to drive and obstructing public officers.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
