Detectives charge more than two dozen in Operation Stairway drugs sting in Mandurah district

Detectives have charged more than two dozen people after a week-long sting targeting high-harm offenders across the Mandurah region.

Police seized various drugs including methamphetamine, party drug GHB, cannabis and drug paraphernalia, as well as a stolen caravan as part of Operation Stairway between April 17 and 24.

Rockingham and Mandurah detectives have charged 25 people with 48 offences including aggravated burglary, home burglary and commit, steal motor vehicle, stealing and fraud.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch said detectives took a “proactive investigation” to target repeat offenders who were often involved in burglaries and vehicle thefts.

“I think that shows the community down in Mandurah that police take it very seriously,” he said.

“People who commit crimes likes burglaries and other high volume crimes, because that really does strike at the heart of peoples safety in their own homes.”

The Mandurah district encompasses the Rockingham, Kwinana, Mandurah, Pinjarra and Dwellingup areas and hosts five police stations.
