Fatal one-punch attack accused to stay behind bars

A man accused of a fatal one-punch attack will remain behind bars after his matter was heard in court.

Isaiah Andrew Louis Graham, 27, allegedly struck a 66-year-old man in Brisbane in the early hours of Sunday morning, causing him to fall and hit his head.

A fight broke out between the two men, who did not know each other, after midnight in the inner Brisbane suburb of West End, police allege.

The older man was taken to hospital, where he died as a result of his head injuries.

Graham was charged with unlawful wounding causing death and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He was not required to appear when his matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

A solicitor for the Yeronga man said he would not be applying for bail.

Detectives arrested Graham in Fortitude Valley on Sunday evening after an investigation.

Magistrate Edwina Rowan remanded Graham in custody.

His case is due to return to Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 20.
