WA Treasurer Ben Wyatt will be on The West Live this morning to breakdown the State’s $5.5 billion coronavirus recovery plan.

The blueprint focuses on boosting jobs, supporting struggling households by waiving fees and investing in renewable energy technologies.

While about $2.8 billion in stimulus had previously been announced, including as support for household fees, rent and new home construction, Premier Mark McGowan unveiled an additional $2.7 billion on Sunday.

Mr McGowan said it contained “around 500 separate initiatives” but details of only a small handful were provided: a $66.3 million cash injection in renewable energy and a $60 million maintenance blitz of police stations, fire stations and volunteer fire stations.

In his Aboriginal Affairs portfolio, Mr Wyatt will also speak to the podcast’s host Ben O’Shea about recent Indigenous deaths in custody in WA.

It comes after a 19-year-old Noongar man died on July 13 after he took his own life at Acacia Prison. His death was just a month after a 40-year-old Aboriginal man died in the same Wooroloo jail after he was found collapsed in his cell.

Later on the show, Channel 7 Sports Presenter Mark Readings will wrap up the weekend’s AFL, which included West Coast Eagles’ crushing 66-point win over Collingwood at Optus Stadium yesterday.

Celebrity doctor Dr Sally Cockburn will also join O'Shea from Australian's coronavirus hotspot of Melbourne to discuss people refusing to wear masks and filming confrontations with police over restrictions.

After 9am, The West Australian's AAA/Confidential Reporter Lily Hoffman will be on to share some quirky stories from across the State and provide the latest in national and international celebrity, entertainment and culture news.
