Premier Mark McGowan is about to address to the media amid the spike in COVID-19 cases due to the arrival of the Patricia Oldendorff.

The outbreak on the bulk carrier off Port Hedland has resulted in 10 positive cases so far.

Those who are unwell are among the 12 crew members in quarantine at the Hedland Hotel.

The Department of Health said all crew members are in good spirits and have been able to contact their families.

The ship, carrying 20 Filipino nationals and the captain, has been anchored nine nautical miles off WA’s northwest coast since September 16.

There are currently 14 active cases in Western Australia and 653 people have recovered from the virus in the State.
