Cruise ship Seabourn Encore spreads the love off WA coast in a time of coronavirus
One of the, mostly, empty cruise ships idling off WA’s coastline took an interesting route to spread a message of love in a time of coronavirus this week.
Seabourn Encore was on a Southern Hemisphere trip that started in Sydney but had to terminate the journey early in Adelaide this month.
The ship arrived in Fremantle Port on Sunday but has been sitting off outside the facility’s limits since yesterday.
Remaining crew on the ship appear to have killed some time since leaving the port by taking it on a short love heart-shaped trip west of Rottnest Island as documented on the Marine Traffic website.
The ship was recorded by the Fremantle Port to be heading to Colombo but several cruises have already been blocked from docking at Sri Lanka.
WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said he was not sure why the Defence vessel HMAS Ballarat had pulled up alongside the ship earlier this morning.
Seabourn Cruise Line have been contacted for comment.
