A shark advice warning has been issued for the Eagle Bay coastline area as a whale carcass sparks shark fears north of Dunsborough.

A four metre juvenile whale carcass was reported earlier today near Eagle Bay BEN sign BSN477, causing Parks and Wildlife Service to launch the warning.

Officers are concerned the decomposing carcass will attract sharks to the shoreline and Parks officers are working to remove it as soon as possible.

Locals are being urged to take additional caution in the area, adhere to beach closures and stay informed using the SharkSmart WA app or Surf Life Saving WA’s Twitter.
