Boya bushfire: Blaze downgraded to watch and act for residents in Boya, Darlington and Helena Valley
A bushfire in Perth’s east has been downgraded to a watch and act level with emergency services urging residents to remain alert.
The warning is in place for people in the Shire of Mundaring. Those in the area bounded by Coulston Road in the north, Glen road to the east, Victor Road and Clayton Road to the south and Approach Road to the west in parts of Boya, Darlington and Helena Valley are affected.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services urged residents to monitor their surroundings as the conditions are changing and the fire has not been extinguished.
“Stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could change,” the alert stated.
“You may need to act quickly so ensure you are prepared if the situation gets worse.
“Residents can return to their home if it is safe to do so. Please drive with caution, watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.”
The Department of Communities has set up an evacuation centre at Brown Park Community Centre, on Salisbury Road in Swan View.
Those attending the centre have been asked to take any essential items such as medications or identification.
