It was all smiles, sunshine, and squeals of excitement at Broome Turf Club on Saturday, as Family Day transformed the track into a kid-friendly carnival of bouncy castles, face painting, and endless entertainment.

While the little ones raced through obstacle courses and coloured their faces with wild designs, punters kept their eyes on the real action, and Race 3 certainly delivered.

In the MMM Southern Cross Austereo Benchmark 58+ (1200m), it was Choixway who proved too slick for the field, stopping the clock at a sharp 1.09.15 on a good track.

The four-year-old gelding by Jimmy Choux (NZ), trained by Anthony Barton and guided confidently by hoop Simone Altieri, justified favouritism at 6/4 with a strong finish.

Plato Or Plomo raced gamely to finish second, 1.7 lengths adrift, while Lightning Gold rounded out the placings a further length behind. With Saturday’s win, Choixway added another victory to his family’s winning pedigree, extending a perfect record for his dam’s offspring.
