School holidays have arrived, and Broome has a packed schedule of events and activities to keep children entertained over the break.

The Shire of Broome’s flagship school holiday event, the Monster Beach Club, will take over the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre on July 11.

The centre will be transformed into an inflatable playground featuring obstacle courses, water slides and misting systems.

To manage the expected high demand, the shire has introduced bookable one-hour sessions to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.

The fun continues on July 12, with Spinifex Brewery Cable Beach hosting a family-friendly silent disco from 6pm.

A classic fairytale will receive a fresh twist when Beanstalk comes to the Broome Civic Centre on July 13.

Presented by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, the production retells the story of Jack and the Beanstalk from the giant’s perspective, inviting audiences to question whether the familiar tale is really as they’ve always been told.

The show follows Brian the giant as he shares his side of the story from inside his cloud-making kitchen.

For parents looking for structured weekday activities, several local programs will continue throughout the school holidays.

BRAC’s holiday activity program will offer morning and afternoon sports and pool sessions on weekdays until July 16.

Organisers have advised, however, that the afternoon session on July 9 has been cancelled due to other events at the centre.

Broome Public Library will host daily literacy and craft sessions from 10am until July 17, with a dedicated reptile education showcase returning later in the month.

The Broome Youth and Families Hub is also continuing its free holiday program for young people aged five to 18.

Operating across the drop-in centre, Town Beach and Cable Beach, the program includes fishing trips, sports tournaments and movie nights, along with complimentary healthy meals.

Adults can also get involved during the holidays through the shire’s environmental Brew for Change initiative in Chinatown on July 10.

The program offers $2 coffees to customers who bring a reusable cup to participating cafes.

Meanwhile, Sun Pictures will screen family favourites throughout the holidays, including Toy Story 5, Moana, Minions and Monster’s and Sheep Detective, with daily sessions continuing until the school holidays conclude on July 19.
