Australian Border Force still looking for Broome locals despite axing of Singapore flights
The Australian Border Force is still looking for Broome locals to join its ranks in order to build a local workforce to meet future demand, despite Singapore-Broome flights being axed on June 11.
Initially the ABF said it was looking to recruit and build a local workforce to meet the demand from the increase of international passengers travelling on the Singapore-Broome connection.
However, with Qantas announcing it would be grounding its Jetstar Asia fleet, the Singapore connection will be abandoned after its final flight on July 29.
Despite the airline closure, the ABF has confirmed it will still be recruiting for a local workforce.
ABF Assistant Commissioner Chris Waters said additional officers were still required on a casual, flexible basis.
“We are looking for people to wear the ABF uniform with pride and perform the frontline roles required for processing passengers from flights at Broome International Airport,” he said.
“As well as working at the airport processing passengers, you will also have the opportunity to perform a wide range of operational roles, including the processing of cargo, aircraft, vessels, pleasure craft and marine crew arriving and departing Australia, to name just a few,” he said.
“We are really excited to offer these roles to Broome-based residents and believe it will offer tremendous opportunities and open up a world of experiences for the successful candidates.”
Interested locals can read more about the role and apply by going to the APS Jobs website.
