Southern Solstice Dressage Competition bringing competitors from around the State to Albany this weekend

Albany Equestrian Centre will host the Southern Solstice Dressage Competition this weekend, attracting competitors from across the State.
The two-day event will run on Saturday and Sunday, with riders travelling from Perth, Margaret River and Esperance to compete.
Judging duties will be carried out by New Zealand’s internationally recognised Judith Cunningham.
Across the weekend, 191 dressage tests will take place with around 50 competitors and 60 to 65 horses taking part.
Albany Equestrian Centre secretary Tameka Ellard said there would be some incredible riders competing over the weekend.
“We’ve got Sonja Johnson who is an Olympian is competing, we have Sharon Jarvis whose a previous Paralympian who won bronze is competing, and she’s also hosting a class on Saturday evening,” she said.
Ellard said the competition was always friendly and encouraged people who were interested to come down to have a look.
“It’s a really good opportunity to catch up with people from all over the State,” she said.

“I think we’re really lucky that we’ve got a really good bunch of people down here.
“It’s really approachable and I think it’s very friendly competition.”
