Return of 410 sprintcars part of outstanding 2025-26 season as Albany Speedway Club celebrates 60 years

Albany Speedway Club is preparing for one of its biggest seasons on record, highlighted by the venue’s 60th anniversary celebrations and the highly anticipated return of 410 sprintcars. Attwell Park’s bumper 2025-26 calendar will launch into top gear in less than a fortnight, with six stellar meetings kicked off by the major celebrations. The club’s 60th anniversary will be marked by a special cocktail dinner on Friday, November 7 and followed by a huge race meeting the next day that includes a 60-lap race for 60 years in which drivers will compete in pairs. Spectators will get to see the return of 410 sprintcars to the Albany track in December when the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series visits. The Sprintcar Entrants Group and the Sprintcar Association of WA have signed a deal with ASC to host round five of the 2025-26 series on Saturday, December 13. Thousands are expected to turn out for this huge meeting. SEG chairman Geoff Kendrick said he was thrilled to bring the high-profile series to the Great Southern. “Over the past few seasons we have built up a lot of momentum with our series, giving us a solid foundation to build on as we head into the (new) season,” Kendrick said. “As part of lifting the profile of our series and series sponsors, we are pleased to have done a deal with the Albany club to go there in December. “This will be a great challenge for the drivers in our series to test themselves on a different track, and we can’t wait to put on a show in Albany to show everyone in that part of WA what the series is all about.” Albany’s packed calendar will also include State titles for Formula 500s and Formula 125s, as well as other top sedan events. The Easter Showdown for late models will be run in conjunction with the Formula 500 WA Title on April 4 and 5. The Production 5000 and Late Model Pro Dirt Series will be run on January 3 and followed by the Southern Street Stock Showdown, the Formula 125 WA Title and limited sprintcars on January 31. Albany’s other meeting on February 28 will consist of the Modified Sedan South Coast Classic as well as speedcars and supermods. A prize pool of $6000 is up for grabs in the 60 laps for 60 years event, with teams consisting of a production sedan and street stock driver who score points across their racing on the day.
