Pre-seeding workshops to help farmers tackle frost effect
Farmers will have the opportunity to learn how to reduce the impacts of frost on their grain crops with a series of pre-seeding frost workshops.
The workshops will take place in different frost-prone areas around the region, including Borden, Needilup, Kojonup and Lake Grace.
Experts will present the latest information on frost and its impacts to help growers tailor their own plan to reduce frost damage.
The free workshops are co-ordinated by the Grower Group Alliance and conducted with investment from the Grains Research and Development Corporation.
GRDC’s Josh Johnson said the workshops would give growers and advisers confidence to apply mitigation strategies.
“Growers are encouraged to bring yield and elevation maps and 2021 paddock plans,” he said. “Using the information presented on the day, together with input from the experts in the room, participants will leave the workshop with a plan to reduce the impact of frost on their profitability.”
The workshops will take place in Lake Grace on March 8, Needilup on March 9, Borden on March 9 and Kojonup on March 10. To register, go to grdc.com.au/events/list.
