OFA 2025: Bulldogs find clinical edge to clip the Eagles’ wings in Ongerup Football Association battle
Gnowangerup moved a game clear on top of the ladder, getting the better of the previously unbeaten Jerramungup by 18 points as they put their stamp on the Ongerup Football Association competition on Saturday.
The only side with a perfect record, the visitors outscored their hosts 11.7 (73) to 7.13 (55) in the round four battle of the top two sides.
With the sides almost identical in terms of the number of scoring shots, it was the Bulldogs who had the edge in front of goal in Jerramungup.
Lewis Davis, Harry Milne and Connor Smallwood each scored two majors, with Murray Hayward, Cody Harris, James Dewar, Rohan Hodgson and Brayden Webber also contributing.
A four-goal second term from the Bulldogs helped open up a 26-point half-time lead, and despite the Eagles winning the second half, they lost their first game of the year.
Davis, Hodgson, Webber and Timm House were superb for the visitors, who kicked four goals in the first term.
The Eagles were best served by Aaron Winters, Joe Alvin, Nic Winters and Dylan Williams (one goal), while Sean Wisewould finished with two majors.
In the other league fixture, reigning premiers Lake Grace-Pingrup beat Newdegate by 11 points in Newdegate.
The Bombers edged ahead in the first quarter by six points before the margin was trimmed to five by half-time.
The visitors kicked 2.4 in the third term but finished winners, 9.9 (63) to 8.4 (52), in the end.
Harris Regan, Justin Joyce, Jai Holmes and Ben Watson played key roles in the Bombers’ second win of the season, while Riley Bridger, Nelson Kent, Matthew Dykes and Jayden Tonkin shone for the home side.
Boxwood Hill had a bye, but travel to Jerramungup in round five this Saturday ,while Lake Grace-Pingrup host Gnowangerup.
