Mt Barker played host to the best wine producers across the State last week, with WA’s premier wine show celebrating vino products from the diverse viticulture regions.

Running from October 14 to 17, the 2025 VI Packaging Wine Show of WA attracted 740 entries across a swathe of categories.

Judges, including renowned Singaporean sommelier and educator Sean Ou and retiring chief judge Andrew Spinaze, praised the wine standard as “exceptional and evolving,” and the show as fostering a “unique sense of collaboration, community and vibrance”.

Margaret River served as the standout wine region, taking home 12 of the available trophies.

Most of these were collected by the 2023 Redbrook Estate chardonnay produced by Wilyabrup winery Evans & Tate, which swept awards for best wine, best white white, best chardonnay and most successful exhibitor overall.

Porongurup winery Castle Rock Estate locked down all six of the Great Southern region’s trophies, including best Great Southern single vineyard wine, best riesling, best aged riesling, best pinot noir and best museum wine.

The Great Southern winery also took home the honour of the inaugural international judges award, decided by Ou.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Castle Rock Estate said it was thrilled to win the swag of plates at the prestigious awards.

“We’re thrilled to share that Castle Rock Estate has enjoyed one of its most successful wine shows yet, taking home six trophies at this year’s Wine Show of Western Australia — including the coveted Trophy for best riesling and trophy for best pinot noir,” it reads.

“(This is) a huge honour and a testament to our team’s passion for cool-climate wines.”

Vintages from wineries across the historic Swan Valley wine region were awarded five trophies.

All award winners can be seen on the Wine Show of WA website.
