Lands and housing minister announces release of 20 lots at Oyster Harbour in Bayonet Head to boost land supply

Twenty residential lots in Oyster Harbour were put on the market last week in the first of a 46-lot boost to Albany’s dire land supply shortage. The State Government announced the land release on February 24, with construction of the 46 lots expected to begin later this year in Bayonet Head. Seven of the lots are earmarked for social housing. Ranging in size from 510sqm to 752sqm and priced from $285,000, the aim is to ease the region’s housing supply crisis. Minister for Planning, Lands, Housing and Works John Carey said the release came as Development WA delivered about 190 residential lots at Clydesdale Park Estate in McKail to create a pipeline of ongoing land supply. “Our focus remains on delivering a consistent supply of titled land to the market, supporting the building industry and providing the foundation for new communities to thrive,” he said. “These lots offer a fantastic opportunity for families to secure their future in a well-connected area, surrounded by nature and tranquillity. “Albany has long been a desirable place to live, work, and play. “Oyster Harbour and Clydesdale Park will continue to provide quality residential land for the foreseeable future that helps ensure the success of the region.” Civil works will begin around May 2026, with titles expected to be available in December 2026, before the remaining 19 lots are released later this year. Mr Carey said the part of the estate reserved for social housing was vital to the community. “This has a significant and positive impact for our community members in need of housing assistance, and helps reduce homelessness in the region,” he said.
