Crowds to flock to Albany main street for 2024 Around the Houses Albany Classic

Albany’s main street will be abuzz on Saturday and Sunday for the return of the Around the Houses Albany Classic.

2023’s event saw about 150 drivers take to the streets for the Around the Houses event.

A classic and vintage car lover’s dream, the event has a history dating back to 1936 and has been held on the June long weekend since 1991.

Competitors will take to the track for practice runs from 8.15am to 9.10am on Sunday.

Four main events will take place throughout Sunday at 9.40am to 10.55am, 11.10am to 12.25pm, 12.50pm to 2.05pm and 2.10pm to 3.25pm.

Alison Hartman Gardens will host stalls while revheads will display a collection of vintage and classic cars on York Street on Saturday and Sunday.

Road closures will impact several roads for 24 hours from 10pm on Saturday:

  • Aberdeen Street
  • Duke Street
  • Peels Place
  • Frederick Street
  • Collie Street
  • York Street
  • Grey Street West
  • Grey Street East
  • Earl Street
  • Vancouver Street
  • Hotchin Avenue
  • Hanney Place
