Albany teenager charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm after York Street incident

A 16-year-old boy has been charged over an alleged assault on York Street which left a 27-year-old man with serious facial injuries.

Police will allege the assault happened about 2.45am on Saturday outside a food outlet.

The teenager allegedly approached his victim and punched him in the face, before approaching another man who was sitting on a brick wall and punching him several times.

The 27-year-old was taken to Albany Health Campus for treatment.

The Lower King boy has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and is due to appear at the Albany Children's Court on December 11.

There were other people in the area at the time and Albany detectives would like to speak to anyone with information.
