“I love to cook, so it’s a place where we often host our friends and family. Particularly this time of year, where we will be hosting Christmas morning breakfast with some of our family before a big day of more festivities,” says photographer Thomas Davidson, founder of Spectacle Media and Shot By Thom.

The couple were on the lookout for a larger home for their young family, when they came across the Duncraig home. It ticked all their needs with its spacious garden, high ceilings, and abundance of natural light, while still being close to the beach.

“We were searching for our next home for quite a while and what we really liked about this home was the floorplan and how it really suited our family. It’s got a few living spaces, and the bedrooms are separate towards the back of the home,” says Kirsten Davidson, founder of The Curated Table.

Kirsten, who recently launched The Curated Table, a business renting bespoke tablescapes, was in need of a designated workspace that was close to home.

“The house has a separate dwelling with its own entry, that we have converted into a studio for my business, where we store all my tableware and plan upcoming events. This is great for me as having a young child, it means I can switch between home and work mode with ease,” she explains.

After a fresh coat of paint, they moved in and over the last seven months have been making the space a home, with a fusion of modern and classic styles, featuring neutral colours and natural materials.

“We like our home to feel welcoming, calming and comfortable,” says Thomas. “A lot of our artwork or homewares were gifts from family and friends, or remind us of special memories, so our place feels really warm, collected and special to us.”

Between them, they’ve perfected the decor. Thomas’ prints cover the walls, while Kirsten is constantly restyling and adding to her every growing collection of ceramics.

“A lot of our prints are photos of mine, as well as shots from our special occasions, some family photos, and holidays over the years. We also have a large piece in our living room which was painted by my sister-in-law,” says Thomas.

An impressive collection of vinyl records gathered over the years are played on a 1950s radiogram that Thomas inherited from his grandmother.

“We brought it over from Queensland and had it completely refurbished. The sound from it is amazing. We have quite the collection of treasured vinyls that we love to pull out when we’re cooking or entertaining friends. We also love our little garden, which is perfect for enjoying a drink at sunset or playing with our son,” he says.
