The 2026 UDIA WA Awards for Excellence winners were announced on the evening of September 12, celebrating the outstanding urban development projects, teams and individuals shaping communities across the state.
The highest honour of the evening – the Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence – was awarded to West Residences by Willing. This stunning apartment project exemplifies how thoughtful urban infill can deliver high-quality homes while complementing the character of an established neighbourhood.
Housing diversity featured strongly across this year’s awards.
Whether it was the premium apartment living offered at Oasis Mount Pleasant by DevelopWise and Rivière Residences by Edge Visionary Living, the mix of homes at Cygnus Parade by Linic or the innovative affordability outcomes achieved through The HMO Coliving Model at Jacqueline Street in Bayswater, the winning projects demonstrate that quality housing can take many forms.
We also saw Halcyon Wildflower by Stockland take out the Seniors Living category and Kingsway Townhouses by Forge Developments in Nedlands win in the Boutique Development category.
Together, these projects provide more opportunities for people to find a home that suits their needs in an area they want to live.
Equally important were the projects recognised for creating strong communities in newer areas, including Sienna Wood by Stockland and DevelopmentWA, which continues to set the benchmark for masterplanned living with extensive open space, recreation opportunities and a thriving town centre in the southern suburbs.
Atwater Rockingham by Cedar Woods was also recognised for transforming a former caravan park into a connected residential community while respecting the surrounding environment.
The Elizabeth Baillie Redevelopment Project by the Town of Victoria Park revitalised a long-vacant site into a valued community destination, while community benefit also sits at the centre of 1909 Subi East by DevelopmentWA, which was recognised for leadership in sustainability.
Another project by DevelopmentWA, Perth City Link, was recognised in the Urban Renewal category for ambitiously reconnecting the CBD with Northbridge and creating new opportunities for people to work, study and enjoy life in our city.
Of course, behind every successful project there are dedicated teams and individuals working to deliver great outcomes for the community.
Congratulations to Stockland Young Leaders Award winner Riley Brown from the City of Cockburn, Construction Training Fund Women in Leadership Award winner Louise Nazareth from Stockland, Team of the Year recipient Okeland Communities and Local Government Authority of the Year, the City of Wanneroo.
At a time when Western Australia faces significant housing and growth challenges, these award winners remind us what is possible when vision, expertise and community outcomes are placed at the centre of development.
