UDIA WA was privileged to announce the winners and finalists in our annual Awards for Excellence on Saturday night.

The awards are a fantastic showcase of the quality home choices on offer to the market currently, with a significant number of apartment projects in the mix, along with the more traditional land estates.

There was a record number of entries in the medium and high-density development categories this year, with a luxury apartment project taking out the top award – the Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence.

The increasing number of medium and high-density as well as urban renewal projects is testament to the greater level of housing choice that new homebuyers now have in the Western Australian market.

The big winner, Eden West by Edge Visionary Living, reflects what many downsizers and those wanting easy-care luxury are looking for. It is a stunning apartment building with first-class amenities for residents, that go well above and beyond expectations.

According to the judges, Eden West was a clear standout when deciding on which project deserved the highest honour. Located in Floreat, the apartments offer buyers, most of whom are owner-occupiers, the total package when it comes to lifestyle and amenity.

Infill development in Claremont was also recognised in multiple categories.

Development WA won the Urban Renewal award for the Claremont on the Park precinct, which is a successful transformation of an under-utilised sporting facility into a vibrant activity centre.

Claremont on the Park is delivering more than 850 new homes, retail and commercial offerings, employment, cultural and community spaces.

Located within the Claremont precinct, apartment project Lucent by Celsius won in the Medium Density (Apartment) category.

Interestingly, Celsius implemented an industry first ‘Design your Own Apartment’ (DYOA) campaign for Lucent and was met with a high level of interest, given the project was sold out prior to individual titles being issued.

Peninsula Burswood by Mirvac won in the Medium Density (Townhouse and Multi-dwelling) category, with the cleverly designed homes offering the option of an additional one-bed studio, providing the flexibility for dual occupancy within the property.

Other winners on the night included Calleya by Stockland in the best masterplanned development category, Burns Beach by Peet in the best residential development category and Edenlife Australind by Lester Group and Eden Life in the Seniors Living category.

I urge those looking for quality land and housing options in Perth and the regions to take a look at the full list of winners from this year’s award program. More information is available on the UDIA WA website: www.udiawa.com.au/buyers/awards-for-excellence.
