With design motifs that reflect the style of its well-travelled owners, this Jonathan William Homes custom build radiates worldly charm.

Described by Jonathan William Homes Managing Director Jonathan Athans as mid-century modern with a contemporary twist, the custom build exudes understated luxury from the outset.

The facade is a stunning display of contemporary construction with a striking skillion roof design, a black and white exterior combination with a pop of colour via the cadmium yellow front door.

“The exterior of the home is a mixture of texture coat and Axon cladding to create depth, texture and interest to the facade,” Mr Athans said.

“For improved energy efficiency, all the glass is 6.38mm laminated in lieu of the standard 3-4mm clear float generally seen throughout the industry.

“Burnished concrete provided to the alfresco and pathways adds subtle texture, as well as being low-maintenance for the client.”

The home’s grand presence is felt upon entry, thanks to soaring ceilings and highlight windows.

“The main kitchen, living and dining area features a 3.9m raking ceiling and north-facing highlight windows, which flood the home with natural light and warmth,” Mr Athans said.

“The natural light in this home is particularly noticeable and has a huge impact on the overall sense of space and aesthetics.”

The ample kitchen features a walk-in pantry, high-end appliances, maximum storage and feature lighting to illuminate the well-appointed space.

The commodious living area trails off to a generous outdoor area, which beckons long, lazy lunches and dinners on balmy summer evenings.

Mr Athans said the home featured a range of must-haves, such as the inclusion of handmade Cambodian encaustic tiles, which influenced the colour palette of the entire home.

“These tiles were of sentimental value to our clients, as they had been bought when they were involved in humanitarian work in Cambodia more than 10 years ago,” he said.

“It was important that these tiles were incorporated into the home to reflect their personalities and a piece of their life that was of value.

“These handmade feature tiles create a backdrop for the outdoor shower – another must-have for our ocean-loving clients – and can also be seen on the portico flooring.”

Back inside, the master suite is a grandiose retreat with an opulent ensuite and a walk-in robe.

The minor bedrooms showcase a similar contemporary design with lush carpets and neutral colour palettes.

The home also features a concealed secondary residence, a design feature Mr Athans said was carefully planned and considered as to not compromise on the main house in either function or design.

Mr Athans said the abode catered to various family dynamics.

“The home is perfect for growing families, grown families and intergenerational families,” he said. “It offers form, function and flexibility with a clever six-bedroom, three-bathroom design.

“One of the best features is the discreetly hidden, two-bedroom, one-bathroom self-contained ancillary dwelling attached to the home.

“In the short term, this part of the home offers accommodation for visiting friends and family, but from a fiscal perspective it provides an opportunity for additional rental income for the family.”
