Shacks Motor Group managing director Jodi Kerr has lived and breathed Holden all her life, so it’s no surprise she’s driving the dream in a HSV Chevrolet Camaro, which has a history and story she’s keen to preserve.

What are you driving and why did you buy it?

I’m driving a 2SS Camaro. I love this car for a number of reasons, firstly because my family has been involved with General Motors since 1934 and there has always been a familiarity with the product through the years. When Holden vehicles became unavailable, it was an obvious choice for me to drive an HSV Chevrolet Camaro, not only because they look fantastic, but they are so well-built and packed with features — and the power of a 6.2-litre V8 is a little nice too.

A 1974 Volkswagen bug. I have so many fond memories of this car. It cost $20 to fill the tank, never required any oil and you could hear me coming from the next suburb. Super reliable and good fun to drive. In winter, the footwells flooded when I drove over puddles, thanks to a hole I covered with a floor mat. The air-conditioning was winding down the window and the cassette deck played loudly in mono. It was bright orange with tan leather seats that your legs would stick to in summer. I miss that car.

What’s your Dream Car?

I’m actually living the dream! My current car is doing everything I need from a vehicle and reflects a little of my personality. I love driving something that is a little unique, but also has a history and a story.

What’s your favourite driving music?

One of my favourite reasons to be in the car is listening to some beefy beats. Depending on the mood, it may be nothing better than William DeVaughn’s Be Thankful For What You Got or The Teskey Brothers when I’m in a cruising mood. Otherwise, it’s music up loud with a car full of Kerr sisters in a lip-sync challenge to Starship’s Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.

What annoys you most about other motorists?

Mostly, not much. It takes a bit to ruin my buzz.
