What do you do when you’re a motoring enthusiast who accepts nothing but the best — and want the same for your young kids?

You buy a Bentley Balance Bike, naturally.

Yes, we’ve checked the date and it’s not April 1: the British super-luxury car maker has unveiled its latest ride, which is aimed at kids aged 3 and above to “bring a touch of the brand to its youngest fans”.

And it’s not just a gimmick, apparently: Bentley reckons the Balance Bike has been created with “the same meticulous attention to detail and style” as its vehicles.

It has a magnesium alloy frame which can support up to 35kg (sorry mum and dad), despite the frame itself only weighing 650g.

It also has aluminium wheel rims, an ergonomically designed adjustable seat made from eco-leather with the Bentley word mark and a carbon fibre-inspired pattern, plus diamond-quilted handlebars positioned above the iconic wings emblem.

The lucky kid can even choose one of four colours, matching the exclusive paints used on Bentley’s cars: Onyx, Glacier White, Sequin Blue and Dragon Red.

Bentley designer Chris Cooke said a lot of thought went into the end product.

“The frame was inspired by the power line that can be seen on our cars and is reproduced in the key line that flows around the frame of the bike,” he said.

“The seat, an important contact point for both rider and parent, has hidden diamond knurling to improve grip when steadying the rider.”

Bentley has made a move towards a (much) younger audience in recent times, introducing a Bentley Trike, teddy bears, blankets, ride-on cars, wooden garages and puzzles.

But as with its more adult products, the kid stuff doesn’t come cheap: the balance bike has an RRP of $815.
