2025 Toyota Yaris, Yaris Cross prices: Brand's cheapest cars get tech upgrades

Toyota has given its Yaris hatchback and Yaris Cross light SUV some minor updates for 2025, centred largely around their suite of safety technology.
This has coincided with price increases of as little as $40 and as much as $800.
All Yaris and Yaris Cross variants now feature a low-speed acoustic vehicle alert system to warn other road users of their presence when they are running in electric mode.
The base Yaris Ascent Sport and Yaris Cross GX gain Toyota’s parking support brake feature, which applies the brakes if the system detects a crossing vehicle, object or pedestrian while you’re reversing.

The Yaris Cross GX also gains blind-spot monitoring and safe exit assist.
However, the hatch and SUV haven’t just received additional safety kit. The Yaris SX hatch now rides on the same 16-inch alloy wheels as the flagship ZR, while the Yaris Cross GX gains a heating function for its exterior mirrors.
All Yaris and Yaris Cross vehicles also now use R1234yf refrigerant for their air-conditioning systems.
The vehicles are mechanically unchanged, with all Yaris and front-wheel drive Yaris Cross variants powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, which mates a 67kW/120Nm petrol engine with a 59kW/141Nm electric motor for a total system output of 85kW.

The Yaris Cross is available with all-wheel drive, which adds a 3.9kW/52Nm rear electric motor.
“Safety remains one of our highest priorities when developing, designing and engineering Toyota vehicles and it’s a continuous process so when new technologies are developed, we make them available for customers as soon as possible,” said Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia vice president for sales, marketing and franchise operations.
“These latest upgrades for the Yaris hatch and Yaris Cross SUV are an example of that and while the changes are incremental, every new technology contributes to the safety of all road users.”
