Hyundai has offered it’s first glimpse of its all-new Ioniq 5 electric SUV, with the release of three shadowy teaser images.

As expected, the images show the Ioniq 5 having a strong resemblance to the 45 EV concept revealed in 2019.

The front has arrays of “pixel-inspired” lights, which Hyundai says hints at the vehicle’s digital emphasis.

The Ioniq 5 is also the first Hyundai with a clamshell bonnet spanning the entire width of the car, the aim being to minimise panel gaps and create a clean front end.

The 20-inch wheels are the biggest fitted to a Hyundai EV and are designed to be as aerodynamic as possible.

The Ioniq 5 will be the first model in Hyundai’s all-electric Ioniq brand and also the first to sit on the company’s new E-GMP EV architecture.

The vehicle should be fully revealed next month ahead of an Australian arrival later in 2021.
