Fugitive Kenneth Giles still on the run after woman shot at Mullewa property

A huge manhunt sweeping Western Australia’s midwest continues as police search for an fugitive sought in connection with the shooting of woman during a domestic dispute.
Kenneth John Giles, 58, allegedly shot a woman in the hand at a property on Urawa Road in Mullewa, 445 kilometres north of Perth, before fleeing in a white Nissan Patrol ute about 5.30pm on January 7.
Despite extensive searches, the experienced bushman remains at large seven days after the incident.
Police allege several shots were fired and that Mr Giles was likely armed with a gun.

Sign upActing Superintendent Ben Huggett said they believe Mr Giles is actively avoiding police and urged the accused to turn himself in.
“This has gone on long enough; you must be uncomfortable out there, you must be anxious,” Mr Huggett said.
“Which is why we want to help you resolve this safely and peacefully.
“Thankfully, no other persons were injured during that incident.
“Which is why we want you to come in, so we can resolve this.”

The superintendent said police were exploring if Mr Giles had left the state but believe he is most likely within the Mid West and Gascoyne regions.
“Which is why we are concentrating our efforts extensively to this region,” he said.
“A significant amount of police resources, including Tactical Response Group Officers, have been deployed to the area.

“Members of the public in the Mullewa area are advised to be aware of their surroundings and on the lookout for the vehicle of interest”.
Mr Giles is described as 173cm tall with a medium build, brown hair, and brown eyes and believed to be driving a white Nissan Patrol ute with WA registration plates 1BIY336.
