A man has told of the moment he realised he had won the entire $30m Oz Lotto jackpot, with his entire household – including the family’s dog – “going off”.

The man from Erina on the NSW Central Coast said he checked his ticket for Tuesday’s draw just before going to bed.

“That’s when I saw all the yellow numbers. They looked like tennis balls and I thought ‘hang on’,” the man said.

“I got the family to check and we just went crazy. We were all running around the house like mad people and the dog was going off, it was hilarious.”

The man said he has been playing Oz Lotto for “ages” but decided to choose all of his own number for the first time.

“Usually I do a QuickPick. It’s a bit freaky! I’m quite proud of myself for choosing them.”

He said it took him another 20 minutes just to realise that he wasn’t going to have to share the prize.

“I won the whole thing. I’m that bloke that beat the odds,” he said.

He said the first thing he is going to do with the money is pay off his mortgage.

“I’ll take some time to think about what else. We want to be wise with it.”

The winning numbers in the Oz Lotto draw 1689 on Tuesday were 17, 19, 24 43, 8 and 2, while the supplementary numbers were 12, 26 and 7.
