HBO has added nine new names to its cast for the up-coming Harry Potter TV series, due to begin production in the UK in a matter of weeks for an on-air date sometime in 2026.

The casting announcement follows news that Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout have been scouted to play the trio of young wizards, Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Joining the young stars and previously announced names — which include John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape), Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid), Luke Thallon (Quirinus Quirrell) and Paul Whitehouse (Argus Filch) — are both new and established names.

Stepping in as Molly Weasley is The IT Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson, with Lovesick and Emma star Johnny Flynn playing Lucius Malfory — young newcomer Lox Pratt will play his son, Draco.

The series, described as a “faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling”, will stream exclusively on HBO Max in 2026.

The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with esteemed director Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones, Succession) acting as EP and director on multiple episodes.
