Pop superstar Taylor Swift to drop surprise new album Folklore on Friday

Ready for it? Pop superstar Taylor Swift will drop a “surprise” new album at midday tomorrow.

In an announcement to her 86 million Twitter followers an hour ago, the music megastar revealed she was planning to release her eighth studio album Folklore — describing it as an “entire brand new album of songs”.

“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that did happen,” she wrote.

“And that thing is my eighth studio album, folklore.

“Tonight at midnight (midday Friday, Perth time) I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams fears and musings into.

“I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.“Before this year I probably would have overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.

“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should put it out into the world.”

Swift is already one of the best-selling artists of all time having sold more than 50 million albums and 150 million singles globally. She has also won 10 Grammy Awards.
