The international sport of rodeo continues to flourish, particularly in WA with the addition of a brand new arena built at Toodyay’s Racecourse.

A thrill-seeking crowd of 4500 turned up to witness the full-day Toodyay Rodeo on November 15, with the event attracting a good mix of top competitors from across the State.

There was great support from the local community including Shire of Toodyay president Michael McKeown, who opened the event.

The well fitted-out arena was made possible by the efforts of Double Barrel Entertainment owners Mark and Jo Kestel and the Toodyay Race Club president Stephen Ferguson and his committee team.

Mr Kestel said the rodeo — held at the Toodyay Race Course — aimed to be a family friendly event.

“We met all expectations and the crowd was well behaved,” he said.

“With much effort from everyone involved, it was a great success.”

The full-day event was held from 8.30am until 11.30pm, kicking off with slack and juniors at 9am before the main rodeo started at 2pm.

Bands Scarlett’s Way and Keelan Rivers kept the crowds content until the late hours of the evening.
