Thousands of West Australian taxpayers have been offered help with their returns after they used the services of an unauthorised agent.

The Tax Practitioners Board says it is contacting people who had their returns prepared by Jessa Van Stroe, also known as Jessa Layola.

The board said Ms Van Stroe was ordered by the Federal Court in August to stop preparing returns.

It said she was not, and had never been, registered to conduct such work.

The Australian Taxation Office said anyone who used Ms Van Stroe should urgently review their income tax returns and ensure the details provided were correct and could be substantiated.
