Perth Airport: Passengers warned about delays beginning next month over major construction

Passengers at Perth Airport are being warned about delays as a $5 billion project to overhaul the airport begins next month. The project will include the construction of two multi-storey car parks, a new terminal, an expansion to the international terminal, a new runway and Perth’s first airport hotel. Perth Airport chief executive Jason Waters said Perth Airport had recorded more than 16 million passengers and 156, 756 aircraft movements in the last financial year and with numbers set to grow over the next decade, more updates to infrastructure were needed. He said despite the great investment in Perth’s flying experience, the construction would cause headaches for some passengers. “This is great news for the tourism, resource and export sectors – but it means we now need to get on with the work of building new infrastructure to support this growth,” he said. “This is a truly transformative period for Perth Airport, but as we know, with this level of work there will be some pain for passengers during construction. “We ask passengers to allow extra time and to plan your journey – this includes making sure you are heading to the right terminal.”
